Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

General Information

The Journal of Language, Discourse, and Communication publishes original research articles in linguistics, discourse studies, and communication studies. Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. The journal accepts manuscripts written in English.
 

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be prepared using the following format:

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • Font: Open Sans, 11 pt
  • Line spacing: 1,15
  • Page size: A4
  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides

Manuscript Structure  

  • Title (concise and informative)
  • Author name(s) and affiliation(s)
  • Abstract (150–250 words)
  • Keywords (3–5 keywords)
  • Introduction
  • Literature Review
  • Methodology
  • Results / Findings
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgment (optional)
  • References

Referencing Style

The journal uses APA 7th Edition referencing style. In-text citations should follow the author-date format, for example: (Halliday, 2014). The reference list should be arranged alphabetically.

Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively.
  • Provide clear captions for tables and figures.
  • Figures should be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).
  • Tables should be editable (not images).
  • Tables should be editable (not images).

Ethical Considerations

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original and properly cite all sources. Plagiarism, duplicate submission, and data fabrication are unacceptable. The journal follows the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's online submission system (OJS).

Submission steps:

  1. Register an author account in the journal system.
  2. Log in and start a new submission.
  3. Upload the manuscript and supplementary files.
  4. Complete metadata information.
  5. Confirm submission.

Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two reviewers. The editor makes the final decision based on reviewers’ recommendations.

Article Processing Charges

This journal does not charge submission fees. Any publication charges will be clearly stated on the journal website.
